I’ve been horrible at maintaining this blog, and I say that each time I get back into it I’ll be better. That always seems to fail. However, I now have an idea to help me with this, and that’s with build logs. As my first I’m starting with my Mandalorian build.
Thanks to the peer presure of Eitanya Designs I’ve decided to make the jump inot making a Mandalorian kit. There seems to be a level of creativity you get with a Mandalorian build that you don’t seem to get with any other Star Wars costume; however, there is also still a structure and level of standard. As such, the Mandalorian Mercs have brigades, which is basically different classes or specializations of Mandalorians. The one I’m decided on is the Acquisitions Specialists. To put it bluntly, they’re thieves, cat burglars, and hackers.
The out line for the costume is light armor, sleek over feel, and muted colors. I went ahead and done up a basic sketch of my character. I’m no sketch artist, so cut me some slack.
The design will probably change, but basically, I’m hoping to portray an urban thief. Most of the fabric will be snug fit, so as to no get caught on things. However, the hooded jacket thing is to help conceal the look of a Mandalorian. The color pallet I’m shooting for is a drab grey pallet: grey green, grey brown, etc. Thanks to Eitanya I’ve already got my armor ready.
The helmet I’ve picked out is the NME Props Mandalorian Stalker sans the range finder. This helmet I think embodies the idea of a sleek thief’s helmet.
Finally, one of the interesting requirements for the costume is some kind of climbing harness/gear. The challenge of getting a costume accepted in the Mandalorian Mercs is that it can’t look to “Earthy”. The idea I have for my climbing harness is basically. the 3D Maneuvering Gear from Attack on Titan.
The more I thought about this the more I felt it would fit and be a epic thing to watch. Imagine a Mandalorian zipping through a place like Coruscant like Spider-Man with this thing. The challenge though is making it and incorporating it into the costume as a whole. I know I won’t have the big drum/keg thing, but there are some challenges.
That’s what I’ve got planned for my Mandalorian. Let me know what you think.
